Contribute to the officer Jake Gutierrez fundraiser
Northwest Custom Apparel has set up a website for Reginald “Jake” Gutierrez who was shot and killed by responding to a domestic violence dispute in the city of Tacoma, Wa. Jake was well known as a street cop and an officer who was very highly respected.
The website www.tacomahero.com allows anyone to purchase a knit beanie with the Tacoma Police badge and the date of officer Gutierrez’s death. All profits will go to Officer Gutierrez’s family. This is a wonderful way to contribute to the family and by wearing the beanie to generate some interest in getting other folks to contribute.
Northwest Custom Apparel did this same fund raiser in 2009 when four officers of the Lakewood, Wa. Police Force were gunned down while having their morning coffee and planning for the day. The promotion was very successful and tasteful. It received the blessing of Chier Farrar of the Lakewood Police.
Radio talk show hosts Ron and Don on KIRO picked up the promotion and were mainly responsible for the successful fundraiser. Rather than a beanie we offered a structured police style cap. This promotion we now offer is a beanie because we can fit it in a mailing envelope and send it priority mail to the contributor.
Beanies can be picked up at Northwest Custom Apparel in Milton. 2025 Freeman Rd East, Milton Wa. Phone 253-922-5793.
Northwest was able to contribute over $30,000.00 to the families of these fallen officers. The company did a cap program and offered caps at $20.00 each. The caps proved to be a hit and offered a way to contribute and receive a small token for their contribution.
Our goal is to distribute beanies until we can make a generous contribution to the Gutierzze family. The funeral is Dec 9 in Tacoma and it would be nice to have a check ready after the funeral to give to the Tacoma Police Union to forward to the family.
